Get into Youth Work

We need you in the school holidays!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with Wakefield Council’s Youth Work Team. After a successful bid to the Youth Endowment Fund to extend our Award Winning Branching Out Project, we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals who would like to make that important contribution to the lives of vulnerable young people to help get them on to the path to success. If you are appointed you will be supporting the Arts, Environment and Adventurous Activities Project in the February and October half term holidays and three weeks over the summer. You will be playing an important role alongside the Project Worker and Youth Support Worker to ensure that targeted young people get the best from the programme. Training will be provided for you to fully understand your role, adhere to safeguarding processes and procedures and learn the basics of youth work practices. You will become part of the pool of staff which ensures that the Youth Work Team can deliver an excellent service to the young people of Wakefield. An enhanced DBS is required and this will be provided. This role would be suited to teachers, teaching assistants, university students and others who may be looking to enhance their CVs as they look to careers in Youth Services and Education.

You would be required for 37 hours per week.

Applicants will need to be highly flexible, dynamic, enthusiastic, team players and have a willingness to work across our projects.

The hourly rate will be around £9.39.
