Sport balls

Get active and have fun with Sport and Active Lifestyles (SAL).  Join in, have fun and get fit with SAL through taking part in the many sports activities available for children and young people across the district.

Dive in to one of the Councils’ swimming pools.  Sport and Active Lifestyles offer ‘Splash Zone’ fun sessions at selected pools during weekends and in school holidays. We also offer family swimming as a regular session in the timetables of selected pools.

Get active in the school holidays – low in cost, BIG in fun school holiday activities

Every school holiday we organise some exciting and great value activities for children and young people aged 5 to 16.  There are a wide range of sessions across all of our facilities to suit all abilities, held in a safe environment to ensure a positive and fun experience.

Want to stay dry?  Try one of our exciting sports sessions from football to gymnastics, dance to athletics.  Or if you want some variety we also offer multi sports sessions.  Want to make a splash? Try one of our pool based sessions with activities such as  ‘Splash Zone’ fun session and fast track swimming lessons.  Our holiday programme is run by fully trained, experienced and enthusiastic coaches that ensure sessions run smoothly.

Sports Leadership

If you don’t want to take part in sport you can manage it!  Become a Sports Leader.  Undertake a Junior Sports Leader Award (JSLA) or a Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) to learn to lead sports sessions.  Once you have mastered leadership skills you can go on to become a qualified coach in your favourite sport (United Kingdon Coaching Certificates).

Are you aged between 14 and 25 and want to have a go at a new sport?  Or maybe you want a sporting challenge?

Sportivate will give you 6-8 weeks of coaching in a sport of your choice.  If you aren’t currently doing much sport in your own time, we can possibly help you in finding a new and exciting session – and will even support you to enjoy sport in your local community after the project ends.

The programme is co-ordinated by our Sport and Active Lifestyles Service who work with a range of local partners and providers.  Applications are available on line or contacts us for more information.
