Bethany Dakin

My name is Bethany Dakin and I am running as a candidate to be a member of the UK Youth Parliament elections in the Wakefield district.

Why do I want to be elected?

The UKYP is one of the few bodies in which the younger generation’s issues, proposals and ideas are heard.  I think that a good candidate of the UKYP has to have the potential to make a fundamental difference to the lives and experiences of the younger generation.  If elected I would like to hear what matters to you most, in the run towards building a better society and opportunities for young people.  Acting on this desire on top of preparation for the upcoming exams and my studies has been somewhat challenging; however I am more than willing to go the extra mile to make the difference to yourselves and future generations to come.

What do I want to do?

I take a simple view, we’re a good community, but we can be event better.  It means building a future for all of our young people, so they can get world class apprenticeships and access to affordable higher education, where all hard work is rewarded.  It means that everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, religion or social status gets a say, and if elected I vow to respond to people’s concerns, share views and take action to the best of my ability.  It would be a privilege to serve my community and youth with honor and understanding.

Thank you for your time and consideration; I would relish the chance to serve you all.
