You should vote for me because

My proposal if elected would be to refurbish Green Lee Centre and Youth club at the side of Carleton Community High School for the young people of the area, to use as a central hub and meeting venue.

The Youth Centre could hold events/clubs such as roller discos, indoor 5 a side football, ten pin bowling, indoor climbing wall, performing arts club, outdoor skate park for the summer and indoor for the winter (with ramps and rails etc.)

It would also contain a recording studio to enable young musicians and bands to practice and make demos, bringing local talent together and showing the wider audience what talented young people we have in the district.

It could also contain an internet café that could be run as a enterprise business, that could become self sufficient, it would be for young people who maybe don’t have internet access at home, it would also help young people to interact together in a safe environment and allow friends to spend time together.

It would be a place where a group meet to help them achieve the ‘Duke of Edinburgh Award’ which is a special award, ‘you achieve by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you’re going for gold) – Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential. You’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only)’, and would help you achieve Ucas points to gain entrance into College or University.

I found this information out from the young people in the community by doing several surveys and asking people their opinion on what their community/area need to make it a better place for young people.
