UKYP Elections 2015/16

The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) elections are run in the Wakefield district by the Wakefield Youth Work Team.

UKYP enables young people to use their energy and passion to make changes nationally and more locally in the area where they live.

Young people between the age of 11 – 18 can stand as a candidate. Young people in our local schools vote to elect the candidates. These candidates are in post for 2 years. In the 2 year term the UKYP Members organise events and projects, run campaigns and influence decision makers on issues which matter most to young people. UKYP Members also get the opportunity to debate at the House of Commons and meet with local Government Officers, MPs and agencies to help them fulfill the promises that they have made in their manifestos.

If you are interested in becoming a candidate and want more information please ring Joanne on 01977 722815.
